The Spine Centre is dedicated towards the treatment of your spinal pathology. The center is headed by Dr. Pradeep K Singh, orthopedic spinal surgeon with greater than 18 years of experience in spinal surgery ranging from minimally invasive techniques, including the latest endoscopic techniques, as well as more traditional spinal surgeries as needed.

Dr. PRADEEP KUMAR SINGH

Many other neurosurgeons like Dr. Pradeep K Singh, spine surgeon in Mumbai, believes, that treatment methods for spine injuries have advanced with time. The face of spine surgery has grown and evolved with modern day technologies introduced in the treatment methods. The technical advances have not only improved the course of treatment but also have broaden the spectrum of options for patients. Each treatment method holds different meaning to different patient based on his/her the type and intensity of the problem. Some of the most popular form of spine surgeries that are used widely for the spine treatment include, minimally invasive surgery, microscopic disc surgery, endoscopic disc surgery and more like these.

Deformity Correction

Deformity correction is used as a treatment option in the case of a degenerative spine disorder. Degenerative spine disease/disorder is caused due to the breakdown of intervertebral discs, as a person grows older. The common types of degenerative diseases include, scoliosis, herniated disc, spinal stenosis, sciatica and few others. The treatment options for degenerative spine diseases include, massage therapy, exercise, prescribed pain medications, epidural injections and minimally invasive spine surgery.

Spine Infection Treatment

Spinal infection is a rare condition that can affect different areas of spine like intervertebral disc space, spinal canal or even the adjacent soft tissues. Discitis is a form of spinal infection that affects the intervertebral disc in the spine, whereas osteomyelitis is another infection that occurs in the vertebral bones of the spine. Spine infections can occur as a result of diseases which weaken the immune system like, diabetes mellitus, malnutrition, and intravenous drug abuse or in the case of history of organ transplant or use of immunosuppressant. The symptoms of spinal infection may include, tenderness in neck or back. Increased pain with movement. The symptoms for overall infection can also include, fever, weight loss, chills or night pain. With time the back pain becomes severe with limited movements for the patient. The initial forms of treatment for infection include a combination of intravenous antibiotic medications, bracing and rest. The antibiotics are usually prescribed for 6-8 weeks, whereas bracing helps in improving stability of the spine, while the infection is healing. Surgical intervention is only required in the cases where nonsurgical methods fail to provide relief to the patients.

Back and Neck Fracture Treatment

When the vertebrae bones in the spine break due to a trauma or injury it results in spinal fracture. Injury in the cervical area of the spine is classified as the neck fracture, whereas, thoracic (midback) or lumbar spine (lower back) is affected in the back fracture. A sudden onset of long lasting back pain can be a symptoms of back or neck fracture, especially if you are at a risk of having or have osteoporosis or low bone mass. An untreated spinal fracture can also result in loss of balance, reduced mobility decreased appetite and chronic back pain. The treatment for back and neck fractures depend on the pattern of the fracture in the back fracture. Flexion Fracture Pattern: this include stable burst fracture or osteoporotic compression fracture, which is usually treated with bracing for 6-12 weeks. However in the case of unstable burst fracture surgery is required, where spinal canal is surgically decompressed to stabilize the fracture. This procedure is referred as laminectomy. Extension Fracture Pattern: the fractures that occur only in the vertebral body can be treated without surgery, with bracing for at least 12 weeks. Surgery is required for the condition where the fracture has affected posterior ligament of the spine. Rotation Fracture Pattern: When the fracture results in the dislocation of the thoracic and lumbar spine in a high-energy trauma, there is a need to perform a surgery in order to stabilize the injury.
